Dear Liberty Family:
I am writing to give clear direction regarding the recent  Coronavirus situation. I have prayed and asked God to give me wisdom on an appropriate response to find the balance between not ignoring the seriousness of the situation and not overreacting to it. As I have listened to the CDC and the healthcare specialists it seems to me that the greatest need of the moment is to make every effort to prevent the spread of the disease.   These professionals are recommending that people refrain from gathering to help achieve this result.
Most of our area schools are closing temporarily and businesses are encouraging employees to work from home in response to the crisis. As your Pastor, I have made the following recommendation to our church board and have secured their blessing on this direction to help ensure the safety of our church family.
My lead is that we suspend all services and activities at Liberty, except for our 10:30 Morning Worship Service for the rest of March. These suspensions include Sunday School, Wednesday Night Service, AWANAS, Life Groups, Youth Activities, Volleyball, Divorce Care, and Prayer Breakfast. We have also cancelled the movie we were going to see this Sunday.
Your offering can be dropped off at the back of the auditorium after morning worship or you can use our text to tithe or online giving options.   I am also making the following recommendations regarding our 10:30 Morning Worship Service. I recommend that we refrain from shaking hands, hugging, and other customary touching to help with safety and to not put our members or guests in any uncomfortable position. Please smile and address our guests and continue to make them feel as welcome as possible. I know this is an unusual request since our church family is considered such a friendly church, however, I just want to make sure that we are proactive in promoting safety over church custom at this time.
I want you to feel free to evaluate your own situation about attending the worship service. Some people are more at risk than others, so feel free to NOT ATTEND if for ANY reason you are uncomfortable with being here. I assure you that I will not stand in judgment of anyone choosing not to attend. We will be doing our due diligence to make sure the facility is cleaned and disinfected each week, and we will also have hand sanitizer available in the lobby and in the back of the auditorium. As always, please be responsible and wash your hands after using the restroom to help minimize the spreading of germs. Likewise, if you are running a fever or not feeling well please stay at home out of respect for others.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me and thank you for your patience during this time. Let’s just continue to love the Lord and one another and most of all place all our trust in the Lord who stills sits on the throne. Let’s lift our President and other leaders up in our prayers. I will be re-evaluating the situation before we enter April, but for now I ask that you please be Christ-like and follow these measured directions for the rest of March.
I Love All of You,
Bro. Bennie
